Rabbi Shraga Sherman grew up in Sioux City, Iowa and graduated from public school. Raised in a Conservative Jewish home, he was active in United Synagogue Youth (USY), serving as its International President in 1982. Shraga attended the Wharton School and received his Bachelor of Science with concentrations in International Finance and Marketing. He went on to a course of intense Yeshiva study and received smicha, Rabbinic Ordination, from the Central Lubavitch Yeshiva of Israel. Shraga returned to Philadelphia in July 1991 to work with Lubavitch House in Center City, and eight years later moved to Merion to establish Lubavitch of the Main Line.
