What Is a Farbrengen?
A Farbrengen is a traditional Chassidic gathering where people come together to connect, reflect, sing and inspire one another.
The word Farbrengen describes much more than a social gathering. Around the table, participants share words of Torah, Chassidic stories, personal reflections and melodies known as niggunim.
It is an opportunity to step away from the distractions of everyday life and spend time thinking about who we are, where we are headed and how we can grow.
More Than a Gathering
A Farbrengen is not quite a class, a lecture or a formal program. Its strength comes from the atmosphere created when people sit together with openness and sincerity. Through conversation, song, stories and friendship, ideas that may normally remain intellectual can become personal and meaningful.
The Power of a Niggun
Niggunim are traditional Chassidic melodies. Some are joyful and energetic, while others are quiet and contemplative. Many have no words at all.
The absence of words is part of their power. A niggun allows everyone around the table to join together in the same melody, regardless of background or knowledge.
What Should I Expect?
No prior knowledge or experience is necessary. A Farbrengen is generally informal and welcoming.
You can sing along, join the conversation, ask questions, share a thought or simply listen and take it all in.
